Particleboard Classification
Particleboard is also called particle board. It is a kind of man-made board made by cutting various branches, small-diameter wood, fast-growing wood, sawdust, etc. into pieces of certain specifications, drying, mixing with glue, hardener, waterproofing agent, etc., and pressing under certain temperature and pressure. The particles are arranged unevenly. Although particleboard is also called particle board, it is not the same as solid wood particle board. The processing technology of solid wood particle board is similar to particleboard, but the quality is much higher than particleboard.
According to the use: Class A particleboard; Class B particleboard
According to the structure of particleboard: single-layer particleboard; three-layer particleboard; gradient particleboard; oriented particleboard; waffle particleboard; molded particleboard. According to the manufacturing method: flat-pressed particleboard; extruded particleboard.
According to the raw materials used: wood particleboard; bagasse particleboard; flax chipboard; cotton stalk particleboard; bamboo particleboard, etc.; cement particleboard; gypsum particleboard.
According to the surface condition: 1. Unfaced particleboard: sanded particleboard; unsanded particleboard. 2. Faced particleboard: impregnated paper faced particleboard; decorative laminate faced particleboard; veneer faced particleboard; surface coated particleboard; PVC faced particleboard, etc. Particleboard is divided into three types according to the product: low density (0.25-0.45 g/cm3), medium density (0.45-0.60 g/cm3), and high density (0.60-1.3 g/cm3), but most of the particleboards produced are 0.60-0.70 g/cm3.
According to the slab structure, it is divided into single-layer, three-layer (including multi-layer), and gradient. According to water resistance, it is divided into indoor water-resistant and outdoor water-resistant. According to the arrangement of the particles in the slab, there are two types: directional and random.
In addition, there are various particle boards made of non-wood materials such as cotton stalks, hemp stalks, bagasse, rice husks, etc., as well as cement wood wool boards and cement particle boards made of inorganic adhesive materials.
There are many specifications of particle boards, with thicknesses ranging from 1.6 mm to 75 mm, with 19 mm as the standard thickness. When evaluating the quality of particle boards, the physical properties that are often considered include density, moisture content, water absorption, thickness expansion rate, etc., and the mechanical properties include static bending strength, vertical board tensile strength (internal bonding strength), nail holding force elastic modulus and rigidity modulus, etc. The process properties include machinability, gluability, paintability, etc. For particle boards for special purposes, electrical, acoustic, thermal, anti-corrosion, fireproof, flame retardant and other properties should be considered according to different uses.
